Clang Duo On Target For Group 1 Double

Saturday 26 September, 2009: Today’s star studded Randwick meeting confirmed that Queensland stallion Clang maybe in line for a prestigious Group One double in the coming weeks.

Clang’s high class sons Black Piranha and Mr Clangtastic both signaled that Group 1 success maybe just around the corner with impressive performances.

At his second run back from a spell, Black Piranha was a fighting second in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) behind Road To Rock.

He now targets the time honoured Group 1 Toorak Hcp (1600m) at Caulfield, before a tilt at the prestigious W S Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley.

Black Piranha has quickly established an amazingly consistent record at the top level.

He has now contested five Group One events, winning one and finishing second in his other four attempts.

Vastly improved stayer Mr Clangtastic extended his winning run to five victories by claiming the Group 3 Colin Stephen Quality (2400m).

Mr Clangtastic is on target to debut at Group 1 level in The Metropolitan (2400m) also next Saturday.

An inexpensive yearling, Mr Clangtastic was purchased by highly successful Melbourne Syndicator Vern Rayner for just $10,000 from the Magic Millions ring.

Mr Clangtastic’s career earnings have now topped $432,000 following today’s all the way win.

  

Feature raceday double for Clang

Friday 4 September, 2009: The Wyong Cup carnival has proved to be a happy hunting ground for Queensland stallion Clang.

The Willowbend Stud sire was well represented over the rich two day carnival with impressive victories to Mr Clangtastic and Adnocon.

Mr Clangtastic continued is development as one of Sydney’s most promising young stayers by taking out the Listed $123,000 Wyong Cup (2100m).

The Wyong win made it four victories on end for the Marc Conners prepared six year-old who now eyes Group 1 spring riches.

Mr Clangtastic is nominated for Group 1 events The Metropolitan (2400m), Caulfield Cup (2400m) and Melbourne Cup (3200m).

Former Queensland galloper Adnocon signaled that there are further Sydney victories in store following his win in the $30,000 Sportsman Magic Mile (1600m).

Adnocon is prepared at Rosehill by Gerald Ryan, who also put the polish on Clang’s dual Group 1 winning son Clangalang.

Adnocon is part owned by well known Brisbane racecaller David Fowler.

Meanwhile Clang’s flag bearing son Black Piranha is set to return to the races following a successful trial at Newcastle last Wednesday.

The Con Karakatsanis prepared gelding has been nominated during the spring for the Group 1 Epsom Hcp (1600m) and the Group 1 W S Cox Plate (2040m)
